Michelle’s Library

Reading has been a lifelong love of mine. I read for both for pleasure to escape into a great story and, professionally, to learn, grow, stretch my thinking, and expand my knowledge base. Many who have seen my extensive professional library have often asked me: “Do you actually read all of these books?” The answer is yes, I do. I will use this column to share my current professional read and my thoughts and reflections on why it is valuable. Please let me know any recommendations you have for great books as well.

The Element: How Finding Your Passion Changes Everything

Ken Robinson, Ph.D. with Lou Aronica

Robinson explores the diversity of human talents and our extraordinary potential for growth and development. He also teaches about the conditions under which human talents will flourish or fade. The Element is where what you love to do and what you are good at come together and you can unlock your true passion. Finding the Element in you is essential to discovering who you really are and what you can really do.

This is a timely read for me. I consider the launch of Crosby Consulting to be bringing me back to my passion — my passion for leadership, talent and culture; my strong belief that it is people who make the difference in organizations; and my personal mission to make work life better for people and, in turn, improve the organizations they work in. Tuning into my Element has been powerful for me. I hope it is for you too.
